about the mystery camera

So, today I am anxiously waiting on UPS.

Last week when my mom was in town, she mentioned that when my grandfather passed away she got some "briefcase camera kit" from his house.

I turned on a dime and my ears immediately perked. (why am I just now hearing of this???)

My mom is not technology savvy. She doesn't know a mouse from the esc key. She has no use for a camera like this. She uses disposables. And she doesn't get to see my blog, or view pictures of the kiddos online, and maybe this is why she didn't understand how serious my new photography hobby was. And that to me she was sitting on a gold mine!

She didn't know a thing about this camera. I asked if it was Canon or Nikon? No clue. This is what she knew....

* it looked like it had never been used. (did that mean it was a newer camera?)
* it came with a "few" lenses
* it was all together in a briefcase

So today I am so excited to see what I'm getting into here. I don't know if it's digital or film. I don't know how old it is. I don't know if it still works. Maybe it's something like this...

The one time I met him we had a long conversation about photography. I didn't really know him growing up and was glad to have the mutual interest as a topic for discussion. He was an engineer at NASA in Huntsville, and loved all the new technology. At the time I thought it was funny coming from such an old guy.

Wondering about it is so much fun. I can't wait to see what all it is and if I can somehow use it. Maybe it's something like this???

Or this...

And one could only hope....

Ha! I won't hold my breath!

The funny thing is that when she called to tell me that she sent it to me, I asked yet again. Did you happen to see just what kind of camera it was? Her answer, "you know, I forgot to look!"

And so the mystery continues.

I'll be sure to let you in on the discovery!

Later gators!

Cody
