No Mess Toddler Eggs!

I love to eat eggs. I hate to cook eggs.

My little guy loves eggs and they are a great source of protein. But, since it's too messy, I never make them for him. Sorry, kid. THEN, I heard from a friend (Shawn W.) about making eggs in a coffee mug.

My ears perked!

It seems, Shawn came downstairs after her husband had made breakfast for her kiddos and found them eating eggs. Her first reaction was to look in the kitchen for the inevitable mess it made and found nothing but a coffee mug. So I guess I should be thanking Matt W. for this post! Thanks!

Since then, it has become a regular breakfast go-to for us. So I thought I would share.

Apologies for the quality of the photos, I don't have great light in my kitchen in the morning. (at least that's the excuse I'm sticking with)

So here's the How To:

Here's all you need. And even so, the milk and cheese are very optional. Oh, and you need a microwave. Hopefully you have one of those. If you don't, you probably don't have a computer either, so I'm not worrying about you.

Crack the egg right in the mug.


Give it a little scramble.



Add a splash of milk.



A pinch of cheese if you like. And give it one last scramble.


Just ONE minute in the microwave is all you need.


And voila! DISCLAIMER: These aren't gourmet eggs people. They are toddler eggs. They aren't much to look at and we aren't topping them with parsley.


Just plop them out on a plate. Looks almost like a biscuit.



Give them a chop to the appropriate size for your little punk. And if you like fat happy babies a little sprinkle of shredded cheese.


Yum! But I'm not done with you yet...



I'm going to take you a step further with all this. Since it takes a diamond plated scrubber to get dried egg off anything, do yourself a favor. While the short one is enjoying your creation, slip over to the sink.

....a little soap.



....a little water.


And now it's ready to hang out until you are ready to deal with it. Which, in my house, could be awhile.

Did you know this about eggs? The entire time from ovulation to laying is about 25 hours. Then about 30 minutes later, the hen will begin to make another one.

That's just weird. Thank goodness I'm not a hen.
